Company founder Dario Pegoretti, first came to prominence while apprenticing with master Italian framebuilder Luigi Milani in the 1980s, building custom bicycle frames for the best professional racers in that decade. In 1990, Dario set out to build frames under his own name, developing a signature style that melded art, music and strikingly innovative techniques. Dario specialises in TIG-welded steel and stainless steel tubing and works exclusively with Columbus Italy, where many tube shapes are designed by Dario, and subsequently Columbus makes them for Pegoretti’s own use. Even Chris King designs the headset No. D11 specific for Pegoretti headset use. The carbon Falz2 fork is also designed by Pegoretti and used throughout the range of Pegoretti’s steel frames.
After Dario’s passing in 2018, the ‘Bottega’ with his established team of artisans headed by Pietro Petricola and Cristina Wurdig continues his legacy of building frames for those who seek to be an individual and value quality timeless masterpieces. The famous artwork themed ‘Ciavete’ is still being painted when requested. Each Ciavete is unique, one-off and never one of the same color, design or paint stroke. Ciavete roughly means ‘I paint whatever the F**K i want’ so there you go. Ciavete is the ultimate in expression of the artist individuality, mood and manner. Catch them in bad mood and this comes out devilish, and that’s what we want from the Pegoretti Bottega, the spirit of Dario Pegoretti lives on in his excellently built bikes and Ciavete expression. Each frame is made in Bottega Pegoretti, Verona in Italy. And of course each Ciavete painted in-house as well. Many have described them as ‘Art on Wheels’.
