The Stelbel brand is founded in 1973 by Italian engineer Stelio Belletti.
Stelio Belletti pioneered the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, a process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld – something that no one in the cycling world had done before back then. Using his experience in the aeronautical world, Stelbel’s final prototype called ‘integrale’ emphasises the frame’s unique design that looked modern and unique. Without the use of lugs that traditionally joined the steel tubings, Stelbel’s frames looks like it was all one piece. Buttery-smooth welds hold each steel or titanium joint perfectly. Although Stelio himself retired in 1990, the brand was revived in 2013 due to a collaboration between Cicli Corsa and Stelio Belletti.
The new Stelbel’s revival started with a simple premise: stay true to the past. The brand’s most iconic characteristics have inspired this new generation of frames, following the values of Stelio Belletti. All Stelbel frames are handmade in Italy by skilled Italian craftsmen, tailored exclusively to the rider’s needs and custom built to order. Working exclusively with steel tubing maker from Columbus Italy, most tubes are custom-drawn and designed for Stelbel’s use only. Tubes of different shapes and diameter are joined to create that unique ‘Steel is Real’ ride. See the difference, test and demo our Stelbel models exclusively at The Bike Artisans KL.
